Our Story

Le Cycliste Au Repos was created from two lifelong passions — cycling and graphic design.

Founded by designer and cyclist Christopher Douglas, the brand began with a simple idea: to create cycling-inspired clothing that felt more considered, more timeless and more connected to the culture of the sport. Not racewear. Not loud sponsor graphics. Instead, clothing inspired by the stories, traditions and visual language that surround cycling.

The name itself translates loosely as “The Cyclist at Rest” — the moment after the ride when the pace slows, the café stop begins and the day’s miles become stories. That spirit runs through every collection.

With more than two decades of professional graphic design experience, Christopher creates every design in-house, drawing inspiration from iconic climbs, classic races, velodrome markings, cycling folklore and the understated style that has long defined the sport. Typography plays a central role throughout the collections, with clean, purposeful layouts influenced by vintage race graphics, European cycling culture and minimalist design principles.

Each piece is designed to feel wearable beyond the bike — relaxed clothing for café stops, travel days, post-ride recovery and everyday life. The focus is always on simplicity, quality and designs that cyclists recognise without needing explanation.

Le Cycliste Au Repos is intentionally independent and small-scale. Rather than chasing trends or seasonal fast fashion, the aim is to create original garments with lasting appeal for riders who appreciate cycling culture, thoughtful design and the quieter side of the sport.

Because for many cyclists, the ride doesn’t end when the bike is put away. It becomes part of who you are.
